Charlotte Magazine

Each year, Charlotte Magazine releases a special health issue and recognizes outstanding doctors in the Charlotte area. And each year, PSA’s surgeons are recognized by their peers as among the top doctors in Charlotte.

ABS

It is very important to select a pediatric surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. Board certification in pediatric surgery demonstrates that the surgeon has met the highest standards of education, training and knowledge in his field. All of the surgeons of PSA are board certified.

ACS

The American College of Surgeons was founded to standardize and improve care for all patients receiving surgery; setting internationally recognized professional standards for its members, and focusing on improving the quality of care for the surgical patient. Fellows of ACS meet the highest of standards in education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct.

National Surgical Quality Improvement Program-Pediatrics (NSQIP-P)

The surgeons of PSA have always focused on safety and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients. We are pleased that the American College of Surgeons has now made this a national priority through the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program, in which outcomes of surgical procedures are tracked for the purposes of improving quality, safety and efficiency. PSA’s Dr. Andrew M. Schulman is the surgeon champion of NSQIP-P for the Levine Children’s Hospital of the Carolinas Health System, partnering with a team of their researchers to improve pediatric surgical outcomes at an institutional level.

APSA

The surgeons at PSA are proud members of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. We regularly attend national conferences where we network with pediatric surgeons across the country to discuss the latest advancements in pediatric surgery.

IPEG

The International Pediatric Endosurgery Group is an international society for pediatric surgeons who have a special interest in minimally invasive surgery. Their mission is “to assure that all pediatric surgeons, pediatric urologists and general surgeons who treat children have access to current information defining the best, least invasive surgical treatment” and “to encourage development and evaluation of those treatments through peer-to-peer communication, education and research.”
